Bring it back – How you can give e-waste a new lease of life

13 October 2022

Friday 14th October is International E-Waste Day, and to celebrate we are hosting a FREE e-waste collection point. Located on the Lower Mall between M&S and Mango, the e-waste collection point will run until Thursday 20th October.

Do you have any unwanted or broken small appliances or electricals taking up space in your home? Why not have a declutter and help our planet by bringing them to the centre for FREE recycling (it’s a WIN-WIN!)

We all have unloved electrical equipment lurking around our homes, whether it be a pair of headphones with a missing speaker, a corrupted USB drive or a broken kettle. All of these appliances contain valuable materials such as gold, platinum and copper. Recovering these precious metals from defunct electronics has a positive impact on our environment.

Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager at Merry Hill said: “We’re delighted to support International E-Waste Day with this initiative, located right at the heart of the centre. The e-waste collection point is another way we’re helping visitors and our retailer community to reduce and recycle.”

So if you have small electricals hiding in your house, please seek them out and bring them to us for recycling. Do not let them fall victim to the dreaded general waste bin.

See below for items that can be put into the Merry Hill recycling point:

Please remember to:

  • Bring all items with their cables and plugs
  • If batteries are removable, please take these out prior to disposal and recycle separately
  • Remove any packaging and take items out of bags prior to depositing
