More Autumn Styling Tips with our Head of Seasons, Kate

5 October 2026

We’ve made it to October, with its interchangeable weather, from brisk mornings to sunny afternoons.

Autumn means versatile outfits are a must, and our Head of Seasons, Kate, is back with even more fashion tips to take your wardrobe into the season in style.

TEXTURE IS YOUR SECRET WEAPON

“When it comes to your layering pieces for autumn / winter, think texture – it’s such an easy way to elevate even the simplest of outfits.

“M&S is doing some fabulous textured pieces this season that offer your key wardrobe staples a real lift – from cardigans to bomber jackets.”

Layer with thicker weight basics

“Mango is also producing some really great quality basics for autumn and winter. I particularly love its thicker-weight t-shirts.

“They’re perfect for layering when you don’t necessarily want to reach for a heavy outer layer especially if, like me, you tend to get warm easily!”

CHANGE THE FABRIC

“Something that can easily get overlooked when we’re thinking about refreshing our wardrobes is fabric. Satin is everywhere this season, and it’s such an easy way to introduce a completely different feel to your outfits.

“From satin jacket and skirt co-ords at M&S, to elegant shirts at Phase Eight, the softness and sheen of satin instantly adds a little sophistication.”

ELEVATE YOUR FOOTWEAR

“I’ve had so many clients this season tell me they want to switch up their footwear, moving away from trainers and towards something a little more sophisticated for autumn / winter. Mango and River Island have introduced some great alternatives this season, from easy-to-wear slip-on loafers to small, heeled pull-on boots.

“They give you that more polished feel without sacrificing comfort or practicality and, importantly, no more struggling with zips!”
