Summer styling tips with our Head of Seasons, Kate 3 June 2026
We’ve experienced every season this spring… one week it was heatwave, next it’s raining!
Changeable weather means versatile outfits are a must, and our Head of Seasons, Kate, is back with even more fashion tips to take your wardrobe into summer in style.
swap classic denim for khaki tones
“It’s the new spring neutral that works with everything, making layering and outfit building easier and more versatile in changing weather.
“Try khaki trousers with a cream knit or a utility jacket over a floral dress for an effortless summer look.”
Add a hero piece to smart-casual outfits
“Smart casual can be difficult to get right, so I always ask myself what the hero piece is. This is the item that brings the wow factor to a casual outfit and helps elevate the overall look.
“It could be a piece of jewellery, a textured statement bag or a bright pair of shoes.”
Focus on adding basics to create a capsule wardrobe
“One important rule is to make conscious decisions when shopping. Think about what your wardrobe needs versus what you simply want, as this helps avoid impulse purchases.
“Focus on quality basics such as a white t-shirt and a denim jacket as these are the foundation of a versatile wardrobe. Building strong basics allows you to mix and match pieces easily and create a capsule wardrobe that stands the test of time.”
Start small with incorporating colour
“If you’re nervous about wearing colour, start small by introducing accessories such as a colourful bag or shoes before gradually adding colour into your clothing.
“Take it slowly because comfort is everything and if you don’t feel confident in what you’re wearing, it will show.”
Experiment with personal style rather than trends
“Fashion trends come and go quickly, and not every trend suits everyone and that’s completely fine. Rather than focusing too much on trends, spend time getting to know your personal style and what works for you.
“You won’t get it perfect immediately, so experiment and take photos of outfits you enjoy wearing.”
