Project
Servator

If you visit Merry Hill, it’s likely that you’ll come across a Project Servator deployment. Our security teams are working with Counter Terrorism Policing and West Midlands Police to deploy unpredictable policing tactic, Project Servator across our site.

Visitors might see more officers than they were expecting to but there’s nothing to worry about.

Project Servator is used by police forces across the country in many large destinations to detect criminal activity.

Deployments are highly visible and officers are specially-trained to spot the signs of hostile reconnaissance – information gathering that may help someone prepare to commit a crime.

The deployments include a range of resources such as uniformed officers, police dogs, drones, CCTV monitoring, ANPR, vehicle checkpoints, and plain clothes officers. Deployments are unpredictable with officers popping up to conduct patrols anywhere around the centre, at all times of the day and night.

Officers will speak to visitors and people working in our retailers, restaurant, cafes and leisure locations to explain more about Project Servator and encourage them to report suspicious activity, creating a network of vigilance and making Merry Hill a difficult place for criminals to operate.

Although deployments are different to normal policing operations, they’re designed to be reassuring for the visitors and not cause alarm.

If you see something that doesn’t feel right, speak to officers, security or call 101.

Always call 999 in an emergency.
